Volpe names Mexico squad

Mexico coach Ricardo La Volpe has named a 20-man squad to face Costa Rica.

Mexico coach Ricardo La Volpe has named a 20-man squad to face Costa Rica in a World Cup qualifier later in the month.

Bolton new boy Jared Borgetti has made the squad for the Concacaf zone qualifier at Mexico City's Azteca stadium on August 17.

Mexico are handily placed to secure World Cup qualification as they top a six-team group, with USA and Costa Rica in second and third respectively.

Borgetti, who has played over 60 games in the past year, will not join up with his new Bolton team-mates until later in the month.

Borgetti's absence means he will miss Bolton's opener against Aston Villa and in all likelihood, a trip to Everton the following weekend.

Full squad:

Oswaldo Sanchez, Moises Munoz, Rafael Marquez, Ricardo Osorio, Francisco Rodriguez, Carlos Salcido, Mario Mendez, Gonzalo Pineda, Jaime Lozano, Pavel Pardo, Oscar Rojas, Gerardo Torrado, Gerardo Galindo, Ramon Morales, Antonio 'Zinha' Naelson, Luis Ernesto Perez, Jesus Arellano, Francisco Fonseca, Jared Borgetti, Omar Bravo.
