Zola blow for Rovers

Tranmere Rovers striker Calvin Zola has a stress fracture of a bone in his left foot.

Tranmere Rovers striker Calvin Zola Makongo is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a foot injury.

The 20-year-old has suffered a stress fracture to a bone in his left foot and is facing up to six weeks out of action with the League One club.

Zola missed Tuesday's 2-2 home draw with North West rivals Blackpool and scans have since confirmed a problem with the third metatarsal bone in his foot.

The former Newcastle United hit-man will hope to have a swift recovery from the injury, with plenty of competition for striking places in Brian Little's side this season.
