Tottenham defender Noureddine Naybet has announced his international retirement.

Tottenham defender Noureddine Naybet has announced his international retirement.

The 35-year-old has decided to quit playing for Morocco to concentrate on his club commitments with Spurs.

Naybet has been a long-standing servant for his country and is currently captain of the national team.

The former Deportivo La Coruna star admitted it was a hard decision to make, but felt it was in his best interests.

"I have thought a long time before I took this decision and I find that it is now time that I stop with the national team so that I can devote myself with my professional career at Tottenham," Naybet told Morrocan TV.

The news is a boost for Tottenham as Naybet has proved to be a success at White Hart Lane since arriving last summer.
