Tevez left out by Pekerman

Jose Pekerman has named his Argentina squad and the list overlooks Carlos Tevez.

Argentina's national team coach Jose Pekerman has announced the list of players that will play against Paraguay in the next round of South American qualifiers in September.

The major absentee from the squad is the young magician Carlos Tevez, whilst there are places for Pablo Zabaleta, Lisandro Lopez and youngster Lionel Messi.

Pekerman has delayed in naming his goalkeepers, with Roberto Abbondanzieri of Boca Juniors and German Lux from River Plate favourites to be selected.

Argentina Squad:

Defenders: Roberto Ayala, Fabricio Coloccini, Gabriel Militto, Juan Pablo Sorin, Gabriel Heinze and Facundo Quiroga.

Midfielders: Juan Roman Riquelme, Maximiliano Rodriguez, Lionel Messi, Pablo Zabaleta, Esteban Cambiasso, Mario Santana, Javier Mascherano, Andres D'Alessandro, Lucas Bernardi and Luis Gonzalez.

Forwards: Hernan Crespo, Lisandro Lopez and Luciano Galetti.
