Posh move for Gazza

Paul Gascoigne could be set to launch a bid to take over Peterborough.

Former England talisman Paul Gascoigne could be close to a return to the football world - as owner of Peterborough.

Fondly nicknamed 'Gazza' during his eventful career, Gascoigne has struggled to find a way into management since hanging up his boots in 2004.

Now it appears that the 38-year-old has turned his attentions to club ownership, after current Peterborough owner Barry Fry confirmed that the two parties had held a discussion.

"Paul asked if he could come in for a chat and I said 'no problem'," revealed Fry.

"He came to the ground and had a cup of coffee. What we talked about is private and will remain so."

Gascoigne's former England team-mate Mark Wright is the current manager of The Posh, and it is unclear as to whether Gazza would stick with the former Liverpool man, or take a hands-on role himself.

Imraan Ladak, Head of the Consortium looking to buy Peterborough, has confirmed that Gascoigne is part of the consortium.

"Following recent speculation, I can confirm that Paul Gascoigne is part of our consortium which has been looking into the possibility of investing funds into a suitable football club."
