PSV Eindhoven are in talks with Middlesbrough defender Michael Reiziger.
PSV Eindhoven are in talks with Middlesbrough defender Michael Reiziger. The Dutch champions are in need of defensive reinforcements following the sale of Wilfred Bouma to Aston Villa and the likely departure of Lee Young-pyo.
Reiziger has failed to make the grade at The Riverside following his move from Barcelona last summer and it is believed that the Teesside club are ready to let him leave on a free transfer.
The defender's agent confirmed talks had started with a Dutch club, which has now been confirmed as PSV.
With the transfer window due to slam shut on Wednesday, all parties will hope for a swift conclusion to enable Reiziger to breathe new life into his career on home soil.
PSV, meanwhile, have completed the capture of Argentine starlet Juan Carlos Carrizo.
The 18-year-old midfielder impressed PSV coach Guus Hiddink during a recent trial which prompted the club to thrash out a deal with San Lorenzo.
Carrizo has been handed a four-year deal, but will not be rushed into first team action in Eindhoven.
