Hedman reveals reasons

Magnus Hedman has revealed the reasons behind his decision to hang up his gloves.

Hedman, who enjoyed spells with Coventry and Ancona amongst others, did have offers to prolong his career after leaving Celtic but elected to bring a close to his career.

Offers to play in both The Championship and Spain were spurned - with Hedman now conceding that after losing his Sweden place to Rennes' Andreas Isaksson he lost his motivation.

"They (the Liga club) wanted me to play this weekend," Hedman told Sportbladet.

"On the other hand, I never considered to play in Sweden.

"Then I lost my place as number one for Sweden - meaning I lost the motivation.

"To travel and be away from the family is not worth it as a number two.

"They have been there for me over the years, it's now my turn to be there for them."
