Ramos hints at Real move

Sevilla's Sergio Ramos has hinted he is still hoping to clinch a move to Real Madrid .

Sevilla defender Sergio Ramos has hinted he is still hoping to clinch a move to Real Madrid before Wednesday's transfer deadline.

The 19-year-old has emerged as one of Spain's most promising performers over the past couple of seasons and is already a regular in the national side.

Real are keen to add him to their star-studded squad to provide more defensive stability to a side that still looked shaky at the back in the win over newly-promoted Cadiz last weekend.

However, Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido - who has already sold Julio Baptista to Los Merengues this summer - is reportedly unhappy at both Real and Ramos for making public noises about the possibility of a move.

Ramos claimed he had received assurances from his president that any substantial bid that arrived for him would be considered if in the best interests of both club and player.

Del Nido subsequently criticised the player for his comments and stubbornly insisted he would not consider any bid that did not meet Ramos's buy-out clause of ‚é¼27 million (£18 million).

The teenager is still hoping a deal with Real can be thrashed out and defended himself in the face of del Nido's criticism.

"At the moment I am still with Sevilla and am quite calm," Ramos said at Spain's training camp.

"There are two days until the transfer window closes. Until the window shuts there is time.

"I don't accept the comments (from del Nido) because all I said was that I trusted him and his word.

"He hurt me and I don't like the criticism of me and my family.

"These are things that can happen at a club, but I hope they are resolved as soon as possible."
