Iversen spurns Bundesliga

Valerenga have confirmed that Steffen Iversen has spurned a move to the Bundesliga.

Valerenga have confirmed that striker Steffen Iversen has spurned a move to the Bundesliga.

The Norway international looks to be on his way from the Scandinavian outfit, after the club failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stages.

Wigan Athletic have been mooted as potential suitors but thus far, Valerenga have only received one firm expression of interest - from Germany - rejected by Iversen.

''We have been in touch with a Bundesliga club but Steffen does not want to play in Germany,'' Valerenga director Kjetil Siem told VG.

Meanwhile, the player's agent, Rune Hauge, has confirmed that Real Mallorca are keen on his player's services but that at present, there is no rush to push through a deal.

''The most important thing is that Steffen gets a good contract,'' concluded Hauge.

''If it is in a week or six months it is not important.''
