Serie A preview

The usual summer farce finally over, it's time to sit back and enjoy Serie A.

With the usual summer farce finally over, it is time to sit back and enjoy a Serie A season that is likely to bring the mix of genius, histrionics and tactical nous that Italian football brings.

Juventus and Milan are hot favourites to be battling it out for the title this year - but Internazionale's summer of spending and the steady improvement of Roberto Mancini's side could make them a third contender.

Juve have brought in Patrick Vieira and boast one of the most talented midfields in the world, whilst Milan were unlucky not to lift the UEFA Champions League trophy last year and may be stung into an impressive season.

Torino and Genoa were both excluded from Serie A, the former for financial problems and the second accused of match fixing, so Treviso and Ascoli were granted unexpected chances to shine.

Udinese were last season's surprise packages, and will be keen to prove their success was no fluke, whilst Roma, Lazio, Parma, Sampdoria and Fiorentina will all be desperate to recapture past glories.

You can look over our team by team preview to the season, and see who you think could be the movers and shakers of this campaign.
