Todd admits to FA charge

Blackburn's Andy Todd has admitted to violent conduct and will miss three games.

Blackburn captain Andy Todd has admitted to violent conduct after being charged by The Football Association for headbutting Tottenham winger Andy Reid.

The incident occurred in the 75th minute of Blackburn's Premiership fixture against the London outfit last week, and the Rovers skipper will now serve a three-match ban with immediate effect.

Whilst Todd's actions were not picked up by referee Dermot Gallagher at the time, the governing body acted on video evidence and the defender has chosen not to challenge the charge levelled at him.

Team-mate Lucas Neill was dismissed during the tie and Todd will now join the Australian on the sidelines as Rovers boss Mark Hughes struggles to affect a change in the negative public perception of his side.

Blackburn have been roundly criticised for their overtly physical approach and have also had Paul Dickov sent off this season for a reckless challenge on West Ham's Paul Konchesky.

Todd, who avoided punishment last season after an incident with Arsenal's Robin van Persie, will miss the Premiership fixtures with Bolton and Newcastle as well as the Carling Cup tie with Huddersfield.
