Mainz land Zidan on loan
Bundesliga side Mainz completed the season-long loan of striker Mohamed Zidan.
Bundesliga side Mainz completed the season-long loan of Werder Bremen striker Mohamed Zidan just hours before the transfer deadline expired.
Zidan, who only joined Bremen from Danish side Midtylland last January, scored two goals in ten league appearances last campaign.
Bremen have a wealth of attacking options at their disposal with the likes of Miroslav Klose, Ivan Klasnic, Nelson Valdez and Aaron Hunt all blocking Zidan's path to the first team.
The Egyptian player's nationality also precludes his involvement with Bremen's reserve side and director of sport Klaus Allofs believes that farming Zidan out was the best solution.
"We are absolutely convinced about his qualities therefore it was imperative that he gets the chance to prove himself in German football," Allofs said.
"Mainz is a very good club and all parties will benefit from this move."
On Tuesday Mainz landed Brazilian forward Romulo and coach Jurgen Klopp will hope that Zidan and Romulo can help to arrest a run of three consecutive Bundesliga defeats as they prepare for a Uefa Cup meeting with Sevilla.
