Real wrap up Ramos deal
Real Madrid have completed the 11th hour transfer window signing of Sergio Ramos.
Real Madrid have completed the 11th hour transfer window signing of Sevilla defender Sergio Ramos for £18 million.
Michael Owen completed a £17 million move from Real to Newcastle on Wednesday and the Spaniards wasted no time in using the money recouped from the striker to buy out the Spanish international's contract.
The 19-year-old, who is reported to have signed an eight-year contract with the Madrid giants, is Real's sixth most expensive signing in the club's history.
In an amazing last minute move, Ramos's brother deposited the money with the Spanish Professional Football League shortly before the expiry of the deadline.
A statement from Real confirmed: "Real Madrid and the player deposited the buy-out clause after an assurance from Sevilla that this would not be seen as a hostile move."
Sevilla had previously confirmed that Ramos would be not be allowed to leave the club unless an interested party met the player's buy-out clause.
