New blow for Bierofka
Stuttgart midfielder Daniel Bierofka has suffered a fresh injury blow.
Former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Daniel Bierofka will have to wait until the New Year to make his Bundesliga debut for VfB Stuttgart.The 26-year-old has yet to play for the Swabians after breaking his ankle in a pre-season friendly against Siena.
He is now facing a longer lay-off after doctors discovered a cyst on his tibia that needs an immediate operation.
"Of course it's a big blow for me," Bierofka said on Tuesday.
"I had hoped to start doing a few things with the team again in the coming weeks with a view to getting back to full training, but I suppose I'll just have to be patient.
"But I'm going to fight my way back to fitness so that I can play for Stuttgart at last."
Bierofka is not expected to be able to return to training until the Bundesliga winter break.
