Parma sign Couto

Parma have swelled their ranks with the capture of Fernando Couto.

The 35-year-old was available on a free transfer after seeing his deal with Lazio expire and Parma stepped in with an offer to keep the stopper in Italy.

Couto snubbed a clutch of offers to return to the club he played for between 1994 and 1996 and he signed on the dotted line after passing a medical on Wednesday.

The defender signed a one-year deal on Wednesday and will be unveiled at a press conference at the Ennio Tardini on Thursday.
