Sinclair praises Pearce

Trevor Sinclair says Stuart Pearce was an important figure in his recovery from injury.

Manchester City winger Trevor Sinclair has praised Stuart Pearce for being an important motivation in the rehabilitation that has seen him recover from a career threatening injury.

The former England star suffered from a debilitating knee injury last term although has featured in all five Premiership games so far this season as City have risen to third in the league.

Under Pearce the Manchester outfit are unbeaten in 13 league games and Sinclair has credited his boss for adapting to the world of management like a duck to water, as well as taking an active interest in his recovery.

"Stuart didn't seem to care what people thought," Sinclair told the Daily Mail.

"This is what he has brought to management, I am not surprised at him being successful so far.

"But perhaps I have been surprised by his awareness.

"As soon as he took over as caretaker last season he would come and see me in the gym and ask me how I was doing.

"I was still a long way from being back and the fact that he had time for players who could not help him get the job full time was very telling.

"He was obviously looking forward to the future.

"When I was injured I could see all the ways that Stuart was motivating the other players and the techniques he was using.

"I just wanted to be a part of it."
