Euro 2004 star Traianos Dellas could be set for a return to AEK Athens.
Traianos Dellas could be set for a return to AEK Athens - despite being told that he was not good enough for the club by coach Fernando Santos.Santos was in charge at AEK when Dellas was released four years ago, with the coach unsure that the defender was of the requisite quality.
Now, however, it is believed that it is the Greek club that are in pole position to snap up the former Roma man, despite the interest of Lazio.
"I am going to wait until the last possible moment to secure a move to a European club," said Dellas.
Following his ignominious exit from Greek football the powerful defender moved to Perugia where he did enough to secure a move to Roma.
His performances at Euro 2004, as Greece swept to a shock victory, marked him out as a key player, but he has been unable to replicate that level of performance since.
