Zamora pushing for Irons call

West Ham star Bobby Zamora is hoping to claim a starting berth.

West Ham star Bobby Zamora has admitted that he is hoping his brace against Sheffield Wednesday can force him into first team reckoning.

Zamora was given a rare chance to shine against Wednesday in the Carling Cup, and responded with two goals.

Alan Pardew has expressed his delight that his strikers are all getting amongst the goals, and Zamora is keen to keep pushing for a recall.

"The gaffer has said the team that has been playing is the team that will probably face Arsenal," said Zamora.

"Last night was a chance to put something in his mind. Everybody went out and played well, and he will probably have a few people knocking on his door.

"I'm not that type, even though it is tough being in and out of the team. But I made the role my own last season of coming off the bench and scoring one or two important goals.

"So far this season I've come on, done well and I've been pleased with my performances. I just try to do the best I can.

"If I put in performances like last night I don't have to go and knock on his door, and I'm sure I will be given a fair crack.

"Not everyone can play every game. Everyone will have a rest because it is a tough season, so I am sure I will get my chance.

"The gaffer has said I am going to get my games. I have done well in both the games I have started, so if I keep doing that then something will stick in the gaffer's mind and I am sure I will start a few more.

"If he wants me to play on Saturday, he knows I will give it 110 percent."
