New injury blow for Sevilla

Sevilla midfielder Jesuli faces at least two months on the sidelines through injury.

Sevilla have been dealt a blow with the news that midfielder Jesuli faces at least two months on the sidelines.

The former Celta Vigo star was injured in Sevilla's Uefa Cup first leg tie with German outfit FSV Mainz earlier in the week.

Jesuli was forced off after an hour of the 0-0 draw and was initially thought to have picked up an ankle injury.

However, further tests have revealed that the 27-year-old has fractured a bone in his left foot and he now faces an extended spell in the treatment room.

It is thought he will begin his recuperation programme in around three weeks, but his loss is another headache for Sevilla coach Juande Ramos who has already lost two attacking players to injury in recent days.

Both Javier Saviola and Ariza Makukula are out for the foreseeable future and Ramos' attacking options have now been reduced further by Jesuli's knock.
