Ruddy Saddles up loan

Walsall have moved to sign Everton goalkeeper John Ruddy on a month's loan.

Walsall have moved to sign Everton goalkeeper John Ruddy on a month's loan.

Saddlers boss Paul Merson moved for the 18-year-old after losing number one Andy Oakes to injury.

The talented youngster, who made a £250,000 switch to Goodison Park from Cambridge United last May, has not appeared in Everton's first team as yet.

Merson will hope the arrival of Ruddy can aide the young keeper's progression.

"He is a talented young lad who won't let us down," Merson told the club's official website.

"It's a weight off my mind to have him here because we have two tough games coming up in a short space of time where we need a big presence in goal and he will give us that."

Ruddy look set to make his Walsall debut at Scunthorpe United in League One on Saturday.
