Fergie praise for Park
Sir Alex Ferguson praised the progress of Park Ji-sung after his display against Fulham.
Sir Alex Ferguson praised the progress of Park Ji-sung after the South Korean's influential display in Manchester United's 3-2 win over Fulham. The summer arrival from PSV Eindhoven was involved in all three goals and produced a lively performance on the right flank.
It was Park's best showing in a United shirt since his signing and Ferguson enthused over the player's contribution.
"The boy is coming on terrifically," said Ferguson. "His movement off the ball and awareness of space is exceptional for a young man."
A brace from Ruud van Nistelrooy, and a clinical finish from Wayne Rooney, earned United the points at Craven Cottage.
All the goals were scored in a frantic first half and Ferguson admits he was expecting a stiff test from The Cottagers.
He joked: "I thought at half time it could end up 20-all!
"Then common sense took over and we had this boring football we are all talking about!
"It was a terrific game, end to end. Fulham played a great part in it and they were a real handful.
"I watched them on Monday night and they were exceptional against Tottenham. They played very well again today and have not got anything."
The win makes some inroads into Chelsea's lead at the top of the table, although Ferguson is reluctant to put too much stock into the current situation in the race for The Premiership.
"It's always vital to win games," he continued. "We are never going to change, no matter where we are in the table.
"The thing about football is with Chelsea's start to the season it puts everyone under pressure, not just ourselves but Arsenal and Liverpool as well.
"It can be a false thing. We have had difficult games away from home, and had a derby game, and maybe Chelsea have had an easier start.
"There is a long way ahead and if they make mistakes it can change.
"Once the players come back we will have a stronger squad to choose from."
