Juventus increased their lead in Serie A after a fine 2-0 over Internazionale.

Fabio Capello's side claimed three valuable points at Stadio Delle Alpi with first half goals from David Trezeguet and Pavel Nedved.

The Bianconeri broke the deadlock on 22 minutes when Zlatan Ibrahimovic's powerful free kick was blocked by Inter's Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar but into the path of Trezeguet, who headed the rebound home.

They doubled their lead ten minutes before the break when Nedved swung a sublime right footed free kick over the Inter wall and into the net.

Inter tried their best to get back into the match in the second half but found Juve goalkeeper Christian Abbiati in fine form, as the champions maintained their grip on the Serie A summit.

Earlier on Sunday, a first half brace from Paolo Maldini gave Milan a 2-1 victory over struggling Reggina at the Giuseppe Meazza.

The veteran centre back opened the scoring for the Rossoneri on five minutes before doubling Milan's lead on 21 minutes.

The scoreline remained the same until the dying stages, with Simone Cavalli scoring a consolation for Reggina.

Fiorentina continue their fine start to the new season with a 3-2 win over ten-man Livorno at the Artemio Franchi.

The visitors struggled after going down a man following Cristiano Lucarelli's red card on 16 minutes for foul and abusive language.

Luce Toni then gave the Viola the lead on 28 minutes before Martin Jorgensen doubled the home side's advantage seven minutes later.

Giampaolo Pazzini then made it three on the hour mark, as Fiorentina looked to be strolling to victory.

Livorno, however, made the final stages interesting when Fabio Galante (86) and Stefano Morrone (88) found the scoresheet but it proved not enough in the end.

Sampdoria recorded a fine result in Sicily by thrashing Messina 4-1 at the Giovanni Celeste.

The Genoa club took a half time lead after Francesco Flachi struck just before the break.

Emiliano Bonazzoli doubled Samp's advantage just after the hour mark and Marco Borriello made it three on 74 minutes.

Gaetano D'Agostino pulled a goal back for Messina three minutes later but Bonazzoli made sure of the win by striking his second late on.

Another Sicilian club in Palermo fared a bit better after a 2-2 home draw with Empoli at La Favorita.

Andrea Caracciolo scored on seven minutes for the Rosaneri before Francesco Tavano levelled matters two minutes later.

Tavano then gave Empoli the lead before half time but Stephen Makinwa made sure the points are shared with a Palermo equaliser in the second half.

Siena won a dramatic five-goal thriller at Roma, as Francesco Colonnese's last-minute winner gave the visitors a 3-2 win at the Stadio Olimpico.

Paolo Negro gave Siena a half-time lead but Rodrigo Taddei levelled matters just after the break for the Giallorossi.

Enrico Chiesa restored Siena's lead on 54 minutes but they were reduced to ten men when Simone Vergassola was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Roma thought they had scraped a point when Christian Panucci made it 2-2 on 86 minutes.

However, the stage was set for Colonnese to strike a dramatic winner in the final moments and give Siena all three points in The Eternal City.

Two goals from Sasa Bjelanovic and single marker from Pasquale Foggia gave Ascoli a 3-1 win over Parma.

Andrea Pisanu's struck a first half consolation for the Gialloblu, who had Domenico Morfeo sent off for violent conduct with seven minutes remaining.

Finally, Silvio Baldini's reign as Lecce boss got off to a perfect start, as the club recorded their first win of the season with a 3-0 success over struggling Cagliari.

Klas Ingesson (8), an Alex Pinardi penalty (12) and Cristian Ledesma made sure Lecce took maximum points for the first time this term.
