Bouma makes Villa vow

Wilfred Bouma has vowed to prove himself to the Aston Villa fans.

Wilfred Bouma has vowed to prove himself to the Aston Villa fans.

The Dutchman has endured a shaky start to his Villa Park career after arriving at the club from PSV Eindhoven in August.

Bouma admits he has not been at his best, but is ready to bounce back against local rivals Birmingham this weekend.

"I haven't played well," Bouma told The Sun.

"I've made some mistakes and I can't change that. But things will improve believe me.

"I know exactly what my faults were.

"I need time to settle in with my new team-mates and the tempo and way of playing here is different to what I was used to in Holland."

Bouma is relishing the prospect of playing in the Birmingham derby having never played in one before.

"I'm looking forward to the Birmingham match and, of course to winning it," added Bouma.

"It's about time the run of results changed."
