Liverpool look into Cisse deal
Liverpool are monitoring the French investigation into their signing of Djibril Cisse.
Liverpool are monitoring the French investigation into their £14 million signing of Djibril Cisse from Auxerre in 2004.French investigators raided eight French clubs - including Auxerre - last week as part of a probe into alleged embezzlement of transfer fees.
One of the deals under investigation is Cisse's switch from Auxerre to Anfield 18 months ago.
Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry insists the club want to get to the bottom of the scandal.
"We have been alerted to the investigation and want to become a party to it," said Parry.
"It is prudent for us to know exactly what is happening.
"We want to ensure our position is protected and be kept informed if we have been victims here. If there has been any wrongdoing, we want to know about it."
The European champions have enlisted the help of Belgian lawyer Jean-Louis Dupont to help them on their behalf.
Dupont is famous for being the man behind the Bosman case which saw an overhaul of the transfer system in football.
