Rennes' injury crisis deepens

Rennes' 1-0 win Strasbourg on Saturday came at a price with a double injury blow.

Rennes' 1-0 win at Strasbourg on Saturday came at a price with the club suffering further injury setbacks.

Already having to do without five first teamers for the trip to the French outpost, goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson and midfielder Kim Kallstrom also fell victim to injury during the match

"I still have pain," Isaksson told Sportbladet. "I will be examined during the day and then we will see how serious it is.

"I hit a long ball and then it strained near the thigh. I tried to play on but it hurt too much and I had to go off."

Renne are 13th in Ligue 1 after overcoming a difficult start but a deepening injury crisis threatens to undermine that progress as they prepare to face Stuttgart in the Uefa Cup on Thursday.

"We were really poor in the beginning and conceded many goals. It has turned for us now," added the Swede.

"Unfortunately, the injury situation is tough."
