Injury setbacks for Magpies

Notts County's David Pipe and Daniel Martin have both been sidelined with injuries.

Notts County midfielder David Pipe and defender Daniel Martin have both been sidelined with injuries.

The pair were injured in Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Rochdale, with Pipe and Martin facing several weeks out as a result of their injury blows.

Pipe (pictured) suffered a groin knock in the weekend defeat at Spotland, while Martin fractured a rib against Dale.

With The Magpies set to travel to League Two rivals Northampton Town in the LDV Vans Trophy on Tuesday, Meadow Lane boss Gudjon Thordarson is lamenting the loss of two key players in his first team squad.

"It is a blow to be without them both, we have a fairly thin squad anyway," Thordarson told the club's official website.

"Pipey is a big player for us so to lose him so early was not what we wanted, and then to lose Dan as well meant two changes we had to make, leaving only one other we could make after the first half.

"We will assess things today ahead of Northampton, and take it from there."
