Ajax striker Angelos Charisteas was rushed to hospital on Tuesday after fainting.

Ajax striker Angelos Charisteas was rushed to hospital on Tuesday after fainting in a cafe.

Charisteas underwent tests to discover the cause of the problem, but it is not yet known if his situation is serious.

The Greek international star had been recovering from a concussion sustained in the UEFA Champions League game against Arsenal last month, but club doctor Edwin Goedhart insists there is no link between the two incidents.

Ajax are currently fifth in the Dutch League, eight points off the pace of leaders PSV Eindhoven.
