Ribery ordered to juniors
World Cup hopeful Franck Ribery has been ordered to play for France's Under-21s.
World Cup hopeful Franck Ribery has been ordered to play for France's Under-21s before he can think about featuring in next summer's World Cup.The Marseille starlet is regarded as the rising star in Le Championnat and has already targeted playing in Germany for Les Bleus.
However, before he will get the nod for Raymond Domenech's full squad he will need to help the Under-21s overcome England in the play-offs.
"He is playing with the Under-21s," said Domenech.
"Like other Under-21 internationals like Jeremy Toulalan, Rio Mavuba, Florent Sinama-Pongolle and Anthony Le Tallec, his priority is to eliminate England in November and to qualify for the Euro finals.
"It is out of the question to destabilise the Under-21s for our next two friendlies."
Should Ribery impress he could earn a call-up for France's friendly against Slovakia in March, but it would likely be his last chance to claim a World Cup place.
