D'Alessandro blow for Wolfsburg

Andres D'Alessandro will be out for four to six weeks after picking up a thigh injury.

Wolfsburg have been dealt a blow with the news that their Argentinian international midfielder Andres D'Alessandro will be out injured for up to six weeks.

The 24-year-old picked up a thigh injury in Saturday's 1-0 Bundesliga defeat at Duisburg, which saw them remain in seventh place in the league table.

The injury also rules D'Alessandro out of Argentina's friendly with England in Geneva next month, which will be a big disappointment as he looks to book a place in the squad for next year's World Cup finals in Germany.

D'Alessandro has been a big hit at Wolfsburg since his surprise move from Buenos Aires giants River Plate in 2003.
