Deportivo La Coruna defender Manuel Pablo will be out of action for a month after tearing a hamstring.The stopper sustained the injury to his right leg in a training session on Wednesday.
The injury could not have come at a worse time for the flying full back whose excellent form this term had seen him pushing for a recall for to the Spain national side.
He was a regular in the Spanish squad before a serious leg break a couple of seasons ago that sidelined him for an extended period.
Having now rediscovered something like his best form the defender was hoping to catch the eye of Spain boss Luis Aragones for the forthcoming World Cup play-off tie with Slovakia.
"It is bad luck," he stated. "This blow has come during my best form, but these things happen in football.
"The most important thing now is to recover quickly."
