McKenzie annoyed by rumours
Leon McKenzie has defended himself against rumours concerning his private life.
Crocked Norwich City striker Leon McKenzie has defended himself against scurrilous rumours concerning his private life.McKenzie is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, which has prevented him from playing for The Canaries since the end of August.
But there have been varying rumours about the reasons for his absence, with his separation from his wife blamed for him not being in the first team.
There have also been stories suggesting the 27-year-old has been in jail and also spent time in a mental institution.
In addition, McKenzie was accused of breaking former team-mate Damien Francis' jaw before the midfielder joined Wigan Athletic.
The ex- Peterborough forward is now fed up with the rumourmongers and has moved to set the record straight.
"If I've been locked up anywhere it's been at Colney getting back from my injury," McKenzie told the club's official website.
"Anyone who thinks I've been locked up in a mental hospital obviously needs some help themselves.
"The situation with Damien is that we're still good friends. Where people have got that rumour from I don't know.
"I spoke to him last night and he's doing really well. It's just another pathetic rumour - someone needs to get a life, whoever is doing it.
"I don't really care what's said about me. I'm just trying my best to come back."
