Hills in car crash

Sheffield Wednesday's John Hills has suffered a fractured a rib in a car accident.

Sheffield Wednesday have lost defender John Hills for up to a month with a fractured rib injury.

The 27-year-old sustained the injury in a car accident on Monday evening and will be sidelined for the next four weeks.

The former Everton, Blackpool and Gillingham player will have surgery on an ongoing knee problem, while he recovers from his rib fracture.

Owls boss Paul Sturrock admitted Hills was fortunate not to have been more seriously injured in Monday's car crash.

"It was a serious accident and he's a very lucky man," Sturrock told the club's official website.

"Even without the injury, I think the shock would have taken him out of the game."
