FA Cup A to L round-up

Tamworth and Burscough both defeated League One opposition.

Tamworth and Burscough both knocked out league opposition to produce the shocks of the round.

Tamworth beat Bournemouth 2-1 at Dean Court. Graham Ward put them ahead on 29 minutes, but The Cherries equalised through Brian Stock on 45 minutes.

However, a late strike by Kyle Storer (82) sent Tamworth through.

Burscough overcame Gillingham 3-2. The non-league team took a shock lead as Karl Bell put The Linnets in the lead with a goal on 10 minutes from close range. But Matthew Jarvis and Mark Saunders put Gillingham into the lead.

A late Ian Cox own goal and an injury time winner from David Rowan sensationally put Burscough through at the expense of the Kent outfit.

Eastbourne Borough scored an injury time penalty to earn a 1-1 draw with Oxford United in the FA Cup first round.

After a goalless first half in the noon kick-off at Priory Lane, Oxford's Steve Basham broke the deadlock on 70 minutes with a fine turn and shot.

The Conference South side, however, never gave up the cause and deep into injury time, substitute striker Yemi Odubade was fouled in the Oxford box by Chris Willmott for a penalty.

After encroachment brought back his first spot kick effort, Ollie Rowland kept his cool to score from the penalty spot for a second time and earn the East Sussex non-leaguers a replay at The Kassam Stadium.

Goals from John Brough, Greg Heald and Ahmed Deen ensured Conference side Aldershot's progression to the next round against Burnham.

A late Matt Miller goal for Burnham was not enough to spur a fightback for the Southern League Division One West side.

An early strike from Freddy Eastwood was enough to put Southend through against Barnet at Underhill.

Colchester United demolished non-league Leamington 9-1. Goals from Greg Halford (39), Wayne Brown (44), Chris Iwelumo (48), Jamie Cureton (60,70), Kevin Watson (63), Kevin Yeates (67) and Neil Danns (89,92) sealed victory. Leamington got a consolation through Richard Adams on 72 minutes.

Histon dealt with fellow non-league opposition in Hednesford Town, winning 4-0 with goals from Steve Jackman (10, 58), Ian Cambridge (40) and Robbie Nightingale (84).

Barnsley eased past Darlington in an all Coca-Cola League clash. Paul Hayes scored the only goal of the game in the fifth minute.

Notts County progressed to the next round with a 2-0 win at Ashton Gate. Adam Tann (48) scored on his debut and Julian Baudet (68) sealed victory.

Bury and Scunthorpe played out an exciting 2-2 draw at Gigg Lane. Scunthorpe went two up through goals by Andrew Keogh (6) and Ian Baraclough (41) but Bury hit back; Tom Kennedy (52) slotted home a penalty and Paul Scott (70) ensured the tie went to a replay.

A second half goal from Grant McCann (64) was enough to send Cheltenham Town through against Carlisle United.

Chester City broke Folkestone Invicta hearts with a second half comeback to win 2-1. Adam Flanagan (10) put the away side in front but Chester won the match with two second half goals through a Michael Branch penalty (55) and a Ryan Lowe strike (71).

An all non-league tie saw Chippenham Town and Worcester City play out a 1-1 draw. Worcester took the lead through Adam Webster (6) but Ian Harvey (47) equalised for Chippenham.

Two Junior Agogo goals (28,87) were enough for Bristol Rovers to knock high-flying Grimsby out of the cup with Gary Jones (49) scoring the only reply for The Mariners.

Hartlepool United went behind to Conference side Dagenham & Redbridge on 32 minutes with a goal from Tresor Kandol. But the League One side rallied and goals from Michael Nelson (34) and Thomas Butler (83) put them through.

Paul Gascoigne's FA Cup managerial debut ended in a home defeat against Conference side Stevenage Borough. Goals from Darryn Stamp (8), George Boyd (43) and Anthony Elding (69) were enough for Stevenage with Neil Midgley (14) scoring the only goal for Gazza's team.

Leyton Orient and Chesterfield played out an uninspiring 0-0 draw at Brisbane Road.

A second half equaliser by Gareth Edds for Milton Keynes Dons (47) put both teams through to the draw for the next round. Lincoln City had gone ahead through Marvin Robinson (29) but will have to settle for a reply at The National Hockey Stadium.
