Domenech to choose number one
France coach Raymond Domenech will decide on his first choice keeper this week.
France coach Raymond Domenech has announced that he will decide which goalkeeper is his number one before the friendly game against Costa Rica.Domenech has Marseille's Fabien Barthez and Gregory Coupet of Lyon at his disposal, and he wants to let both players know as soon as possible who he is favouring so that they can prepare for the World Cup.
"We are lucky to have two great keepers," said Domenech. "But we have to make a choice.
"Both have quality, but we need a number one and a number two, so that the situation is clear for everyone."
There is little to choose between the two, with Coupet in outstanding form for Lyon, while Barthez has a wealth of experience, and Domenech has admitted that the situation could change before next summer.
"It won't necessarily be definitive, because you never know what can happen before June, but it will be a choice."
