Gills send stopper home

Gillingham have sent young defender Anthony Scaramozzino back to French club Nice after failing to impress boss Neale Cooper. The French Under-21 international moved to the Priestfield Stadium on transfer deadline day but only managed to appear in two reserve games for the Kent outfit.
His unimpressive form led to Gillingham cutting short his loan spell, and chairman Paul Scally revealed Scaramozzino did not make the grade with the League One side.
"Anthony has been told he can go back to France," Scally told the club's official website.
"We had a contract that was only conditional upon him playing first team football.
"He didn't come up to the standard the manager expected and he wasn't therefore going to be considered for first team selection and we have told him that we don't intend to keep him here any longer."
In other Gills news, striker Moses Ashikodi has returned to West Ham after the expiration of his loan deal, having made four appearances this season.
