Pompey skipper's Perrin hints
Dejan Stefanovic has hinted the players were upset with Alain Perrin's tactics.
Portsmouth captain Dejan Stefanovic has hinted that the players were not happy with Alain Perrin's negative tactics.
The centre back feels a 4-4-2 formation should have been used, particularly in home games, and this is one of the reasons for the team's poor form.
Stefanovic also suggested the side would be more fired up for Saturday's PremPlus clash with leaders Chelsea following the sacking of Perrin.
"The reaction, you know, is not mine to talk about," he told Sky Sports News. "But the mood in the group is excellent.
"I've got to tell you this - everyone is focused on the game.
"Of course, everyone has a different opinion of the manager but now it's all over, and we're looking forward to winning some games as soon as possible.
"Joe Jordan [who takes caretaker charge] is a great man, a great coach as well and he's been here nearly two years. He knows everything about the players here and English football.
"He will change things that weren't working out before.
"I think it's up to him to decide which system we're going to play, but most of the players, especially at home, prefer to play the 4-4-2 system, which we didn't do before in the last ten games, especially at home. We will see.
"On the day, we lost to a better side for sure at Liverpool [last weekend]," he added. "A more disappointing game we lost at home to Wigan and we did not create any chances and especially at home, in front of our fans, I think we must do much better."
The 5.15pm clash with Chelsea will be a tough assignment but Stefanovic believes there will be renewed vigour amongst his team-mates.
"We play the best side at the moment in Chelsea and maybe we'll catch them on a bad day," he hoped.
"With all the changes around the club, maybe we can push ourselves a little bit harder to work hard and take something from the game if possible.
"I'm sure every player in this club and from the staff will give 200 percent for that game."
