Savage signs for Robins

Bristol City have pushed through a deal to sign striker Bas Savage.

Bristol City have pushed through a deal for Bas Savage, after receiving clearance to sign the striker.

Savage has been training with The Robins after being released by Coventry City at the start of this month.

The 23-year-old had been on non-contract forms at The Ricoh Arena and The Robins were unsure if they would be able to sign Savage before January.

But the authorities have given the deal the thumbs up and Savage will now stay at Ashton Gate until the New Year.

Robins boss Gary Johnson was delighted to bring in Savage, who trained with Grimsby Town after his exit from Coventry.

Johnson told the club's official website: "Bas will give us something different as an option in attack and we're pleased he is finally on board.

"Having someone of Bas' size in your squad is like having another club in your golf bag. He's fit, raring to go and he'll play a part for us."
