Robins clinch Noble loan

Bristol City have completed the loan of Boston United midfielder David Noble.

The 23-year-old joins the League One strugglers - with a view to making his deal a permanent arrangement in the January transfer window.

The former Arsenal and West Ham United player made his first Robins appearance in a behind closed doors friendly, as City defeated Latvian club Skonto Riga 3-1 at Ashton Gate on Wednesday.

Noble's arrival was coupled with the departure of Northern Ireland international striker James Quinn, who returns to parent club Peterborough United after a month on loan with The Robins.  

Wednesday's friendly included two trialist strikers in the form of former Reading hit-man Basir Savage and the much-travelled African Samuel Ayorinde.

Savage is training with the West Country club after ending a brief spell with Championship club Coventry City and a previous trial at League Two high-flyers Grimsby Town.

Manager Gary Johnson is keen to sign Savage, but he has been left frustrated by rules stating he was under contract to Coventry outside the transfer windows.

It means the club may have to wait until January before sealing a deal for the 23-year-old.

Nigerian striker Ayorinde, meanwhile, joins City after playing for clubs in Tunisia, Austria, Finland, Israel, Sweden and China.

The 31-year-old has also had spells in the UK with Leyton Orient, Dover, Stalybridge Celtic and Welsh club Bangor City.
