Duff: We won't crumble

Damien Duff has insisted that Chelsea are not going to crack like Arsenal.

Damien Duff has insisted that Chelsea are not going to crack like Arsenal did last season.

The Gunners lost at Old Trafford after going 49 games unbeaten last season and never really recovered, but Duff believes that Chelsea, who lost to Manchester United a fortnight ago, will not suffer the same fate.

Jose Mourinho's side have managed just one win in their last five games, but remain six points clear at the top, and Duff has warned their Premiership rivals that the mini-slump is over.

"It's never nice to lose and in such a huge game against Manchester United, it's minging," the Irishman admitted.

"But this is Chelsea, not Arsenal. Of course we wanted to keep the run going, but in a sense the Old Trafford result has lifted some of the pressure off our shoulders.

"Arsenal's 49-game record may be safe for now. We intend to get our hands on the silverware that really matters at the end of the season," Duff assured.

Chelsea are preparing for a massive week, with a UEFA Champions League clash against Anderlecht in midweek preceded by the Premiership clash at home to Newcastle United on Saturday.

"We're looking forward to bouncing back. The Newcastle game can't come quickly enough," Duff concluded.
