Sneijder inks new Ajax deal

Wesley Sneijder has committed his future to Ajax by signing a new deal.

Wesley Sneijder has committed his future to Ajax by signing a new deal which ties him to the Amsterdam outfit until the summer of 2009.

The midfielder climbed through the ranks at great speed and is now the focal point of Danny Blind's side despite being just 21 years of age.

Sneijder is also an established Dutch international and his mature displays have caught the eye of many of Europe's bigger hitters.

Ajax are in a period of transition, having seen the likes of Rafael van der Vaart and Zlatan Ibrahimovic move on, but it would appear as if the Amsterdam giants are intent on building a new era around Sneijder.

Sneijder claims he has plenty to learn and is looking forward to helping Ajax emerge from their slumber.

"I have a feeling that I have a lot more to learn," he told the club's website. "My heart is also at Ajax.

"Ajax have been champions once during my time and I want to win more.

"The team we have can grow, so I will stay at Ajax."

The news will be a massive boost to Blind as there are doubts over the futures of fellow starlets Steve Pienaar and Nigel de Jong.
