Owls swoop for Gilbert
Sheffield Wednesday have taken Leicester City left back Peter Gilbert on loan.
Sheffield Wednesday boss Paul Sturrock has made another loan signing in the form of Leicester City left back Peter Gilbert. The 22-year-old follows Sunderland striker Daryl Murphy in joining The Owls before Thursday's Football League loan deadline.
Gilbert has struggled to make much of an impact at The Walkers Stadium following his arrival back in the summer.
The former Birmingham City and Plymouth Argyle player will remain at Hillsborough until January 2, but the deal is with a view to a permanent move.
The Wales Under-21 international is reunited with Sturrock, with the Scot having handed Gilbert his league debut when the pair were at Plymouth.
One player that will not be heading to Hillsborough is Bury midfielder Simon Whaley.
The 20-year-old will remain at Gigg Lane after failing to reach personal terms with the South Yorkshire club on Wednesday.
Both clubs had agreed terms for a move, but Whaley will remain with The Shakers for the foreseeable future.
