Rampant Luton sink Crewe

Rowan Vine scored twice as Luton thrashed Crewe 4-1 at Kenilworth Road.

Luton brought an end to their run of four straight defeats with an emphatic victory over 10-man Crewe at Kenilworth Road.

Mike Newell's side have lost considerable ground in the promotion race in recent weeks, but they got back on track thanks to a late flurry of goals.

Rowan Vine struck twice in two minutes either side of Steve Foster's dismissal as the game erupted into life midway through the second half.

Vine got the first on 69 minutes when he crashed in a right-footed drive after substitute Enoch Showunmi's impressive run and cross.

The former Portsmouth striker then added a second from the penalty spot after Crewe defender Foster was shown a straight red card for bringing him down in the area.

Vine then turned provider as he crossed for Dean Morgan, who scored at the second attempt after his initial effort had been blocked by Ben Williams.

Richard Walker immediately headed in from Kenny Lunt's free-kick to earn Crewe some consolation, but Showunmi's last minute strike set the seal on a fine night for the Hatters.
