Barone focused on Palermo

Simone Barone is flattered by reports linking him with a move to Juventus.

Palermo midfielder Simone Barone is flattered by reports linking him with a move to Juventus, but says he has no desire to move in January.

Barone has produced some stellar displays in Palermo's engine room this term and has reportedly caught the eye of Juve coach Fabio Capello.

The midfielder admits it is nice to see his name linked with big clubs, but claims his sole aim is to perform well for Palermo and earn a spot in Italy's World Cup squad.

"During the market many names are linked with many clubs," Barone told Corriere dello Sport. "Obviously I am pleased, all players would, but my thoughts are on doing good things with Palermo.

"My priority is to play well with Rosanero and get a place in the World Cup."

Barone feels he has earned the trust of Italy coach Marcello Lippi, but knows he must work hard over the next six months.

"I can count on the coach's faith as I have been called up for the last 13 matches, but I know there are other players pushing for the Azzurri squad and so I must continue to play well in the league," he admitted.

"For the moment rumours about Juve don't distract me, should there be something real, it will be at the end of the season."
