Peter Canero admits he is considering leaving Dundee United in the January transfer window. The midfielder only moved to Tannadice in September after being released by Leicester, but his deal expires at the end of December and he is yet to hear from the SPL side regarding a new contract.
Canero, currently sidelined with a knee complaint, has been linked with a move back to England or to Major League Soccer in America, and the 24-year-old has now conceded he is considering his future.
United boss Gordon Chisholm is currently fighting for his job and Canero's admission will come as unwelcome news for a United side at the wrong end of the SPL table.
"My contract is up at the end of the month but that's not something I'm concerning myself with right now," said Canero.
"I need to get back fit and playing before I can assess all the options.
"There are a few things open to me and as much as I've enjoyed it here it's a case of wait and see.
"The chance to go to America came up in the past and I wasn't too sure about it but I wouldn't close the door on anything and that includes going back down south.
"I haven't heard from the club so I don't know if I'll get another contract.
"Whatever happens, being here has been good for me and hopefully I've managed to help the team too."
