Stoke tie up Finn swoop

Stoke have signed Finnish international winger Peter Kopteff on a free transfer.

Stoke have signed Viking's Finnish international winger Peter Kopteff on a free transfer.

The 26-year-old agreed terms on a two-and-a-half year deal this week but must wait until the reopening of the transfer window in January before making his Stoke debut.

The Potters' director of football John Rudge was delighted to confirm the completion of the deal amid interest from rival clubs.

"We are happy to announce the deal has been completed and Peter will be a valuable addition to the squad," Rudge told Stoke's official website

"He's a player of considerable quality and experience and I think he will be an exciting player for this club.

"Several clubs were also interested in signing him so we're delighted he chose to move here and we think it's a deal which suits all parties."

Kopteff joined Viking from HJK Helsinki in January 2002, the same month in which he also made his international debut in Finland's 2-0 win over Bahrain.
