Ono closes on comeback

Shinji Ono has targeted a return to action for Feyenoord at the end of December.

Shinji Ono has targeted a return to action for Feyenoord at the end of December.

The Japan international has been restricted to just three appearances for the Dutch title hopefuls this season due to a foot injury.

Having seemingly recovered from the initial complaint, Ono aggravated his injury while on international duty in October.

He is now nearing an end to his fitness troubles and has pencilled in a comeback before the turn of the year.

Ono is desperate to achieve peak fitness as he has an important second half of the season ahead of him.

The midfielder is likely to be leaving De Kuip at the end of the season as he is reluctant to extend his contract beyond 2007 and Feyenoord are not prepared to lose Ono for nothing.
