Wolves bid for striker rejected
Wolves have been linked with MK Dons striker Izale McLeod.
Wolves have had two bids for a new striker rejected.Manager Glenn Hoddle is keen to add to his squad in an attempt to secure a play-off spot, but is not prepared to offer more money for the player, believed to be MK Dons' Izale McLeod.
Although the identity of their target has yet to be confirmed, Hoddle is known to be an admirer of the 21-year-old forward.
The pursuit could now be over, after Wolves chief executive Jex Moxey was told not to put up more money.
"We will keep talking to the club but Glenn feels we have reached the level we should be paying for this player," Moxey told the club's official website.
"The problem with English clubs is that they want too much money for players. We are all guilty of this but it starts with the top clubs in The Premiership and filters down. It makes it hard to get value for money.
"The manager tells me that we've bid enough and whilst I'm prepared to negotiate around the edges, I feel we have already made a generous offer. I hope, however, the club in question will keep talking to us."
MK Dons admitted that there had been interest in McLeod, but insisted that as things stand he is going nowhere.
"Glenn Hoddle was down here on a couple of occasions to scout Izale before he got injured back in August, but he is very much our player."
