Atletico Madrid look set to win the race for Portugal's Maniche, according to Spanish sources.Manchester United had also been keen on the Dinamo Moscow playmaker - who is set to quit the Russian capital just six months after joining from Porto, but he now looks set for Spain.
United had looked into the signing of Maniche, but Atletico have pushed on with their interest in recent weeks and now look to have all but sealed his signature.
Maniche cost the Russians around £10 million - but Atletico are looking to pay just half that amount to take him to the Vicente Calderon in January.
Atletico are looking to spend big in January and they could have a new-look central midfield with Tomas Rosicky of Borussia Dortmund also looking likely to join the Rojiblancos.
Rosicky has already agreed terms with Atletico and now the two clubs are discussing a fee, although it is expected the move will be finalised within the next week or so.
The Spanish winter break kicks in later this month, and Atletico will expect to have both Maniche and Rosicky available to them when La Liga returns in January.
