Roaming Polanski goes German

Eugen Polanski has rejected Poland in favour of a career with Germany.

Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Eugen Polanski has rejected Poland in favour of an international career with Germany.

The Sosnowiec-born youngster has been in impressive form for the Foals since breaking into the first team this season and was watched by Poland coach Pavel Janas against Hannover at the weekend.

Polanski, however, said that he sees his future with Germany after spending most of his life in the country.

"I've played for all of Germany's youth teams and have now decided that here is where my future lies," commented the 19-year-old.

"It is a great honour for me to have been watched in only my seventh Bundesliga game, but I hardly have any footballing contacts to my former country."

The teenager will be hoping to force his way into Jurgen Klinsmann's World Cup plans or at least get a place in the Under-21 side.
