Mido sees Spurs future
Mido says he is keen to stay at Spurs as they grow into Champions League contenders.
Egyptian hit-man Mido says he is keen to stay at Tottenham as they continue their development into UEFA Champions League contenders. The striker has played a key role at White Hart Lane as Martin Jol has guided the side to fourth in The Premiership, and the poor form of North London rivals Arsenal has opened the possibility of qualifying for Europe's premier competition for the first time.
Mido is currently on loan from Serie A side Roma until the end of the current campaign, but after becoming Jol's number one striker he is keen to make his move permanent to what he believes is a team unrivalled in quality.
"We are doing well, we are in the top four," said Mido.
"That is what we are dreaming about and, if it comes, it will be great, if not we will fight for a Uefa Cup position.
"I'm very happy here now I know more about English football, when you know more about something you do it better.
"I won't find better players to play with than at Spurs.
"All I care about is to play good football and score goals, the rest is between Tottenham and my manager.
"He will let me know when they start talks."
Meanwhile, Spurs team-mate Michael Carrick says he has his fingers crossed as he looks to win a place in Sven Goran Eriksson's England squad for the World Cup.The former West Ham man has been reintroduced to the international fold by the Swede, although may have to see off club captain Ledley King for a holding role, and is desperate to stake his claim for a place in the squad to travel to Germany.
"Consistency is the key to getting into the England side and I am getting better all the time in that respect," Carrick told the Daily Express.
"World Cups do not come along very often so obviously I am determined to get into the England squad and stay there."
